This is an beautiful pair of shokudo and gold menuki from the mid Edo period (the 1700s). The motif is BUGU or Japanese weapon. One is SAIHAI, a baton used to lead troops into battle. The other coordinating menuki is GUNBAI, also usedto give troops direction in battle. Each one is 2" long. Excellent condition. Beautiful kiri box with light green cushion.
